A Carlsbad elementary university was placed on a short lockdown Wednesday early morning owing to doable gunfire in a nearby canyon.

The lockdown began soon prior to 9:05 a.m. soon after “what sounded like gunshots ended up heard” coming from a canyon adjacent to Tamarack Avenue around Hope Elementary, college principal Richard Tubbs mentioned in a assertion.

“Out of an abundance of caution, I named for an fast lockdown for all students and staff at Hope Elementary Faculty,” Tubbs reported.

By 10:15 a.m., the precautionary lockdown was lifted and college functions returned to typical, Tubbs reported.

Carlsbad law enforcement spokeswoman Jodee Reyes claimed officers ended up investigating the suspicious sound, but no other details was promptly offered.
