FAIRFIELD — The Warde softball scored four runs in the third inning and held on for a 4-3 win over Ludlowe in a FCIAC quarterfinal game Friday afternoon at Sturges Park.

Olivia Vadas went 2-for-3, including a three-run home run, and Avery Yardis went 2-for-3 for the sixth-seeded Mustangs (12-6), who will play the winner of today’s Greenwich-Trumbull game in the semifinals on Monday at Sacred Heart University.

Ira Boci and Margaret Nolan each had two hits and Bella Bookas went 1-for-3 with one RBI in the loss for the Falcons (16-5).
