A report of attainable gunshots Wednesday near a coastal North County key school — sounds later decided to have very likely been a backfiring auto — prompted a roughly hourlong lockdown at the campus whilst authorities investigated.
An individual reported hearing appears very similar to gunfire in the place of Hope Elementary University in Carlsbad shortly right after 9 a.m., in accordance to police.
“Out of an abundance of caution, I identified as for an fast lockdown for all college students and personnel (at the campus),” principal Richard Tubbs explained in a prepared assertion.
Officers investigating the report contacted a number of men and women who described hearing what appeared to be motor backfires emanating from a white pickup truck touring on a street throughout a canyon from the Tamarack Avenue faculty, police Lt. Steve Thomas stated.
Investigators observed no proof of gunfire in the community, in accordance to Thomas.
