HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton VA Medical Heart was evacuated Wednesday afternoon owing to a opportunity hazmat scenario that was decided to be the odor of a urine sample, in accordance to fire officers.
Dispatch said the call came in at 2:16 p.m., in accordance to Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue spokesman Battalion Chief Anthony Chittum.
John Rogers with the VA instructed WTKR there was a pungent, frustrating odor, identified to be the odor of a urine sample, on the initial and second floor of constructing 144, which residences mental wellbeing providers.
As a precaution, the building’s team and patients were evacuated.
“We are searching into this matter, and we are concerned for our employees’ and veterans’ security,” Rogers said.
