A accident on I-84 is causing big delays in Danbury Thursday morning.

The accident happened shortly after 5 a.m. on westbound I-84 in Danbury. The one-vehicle crash has closed the two right lanes between Exits 5 and 4.

State Police at Troop A said there were no serious injuries, but the car is off the road and will need to be towed, so lanes will be closed for at least another hour.

The crash is causing heavy westbound delays between Route 7 and the New York state line.

Just before 7:30 a.m., speeds were in the single numbers. The state Department of Transportation says it is taking 72 minutes to travel eight miles.

Motorists seeking to avoid I-84 are using local roads, leading to heavy congestion.

In New Haven, a vehicle fire on the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge has closed the southbound right and center lanes between Exits 47 and 46.

The fire was reported at 6:11 a.m. The scene was cleared by 6:45 a.m., state police said.
