A murder charge was submitted Monday in opposition to a transient who allegedly stabbed one more homeless man to demise in a South Bay professional district.

John Douglas Terrell, 53, is accused in the loss of life of 56-calendar year-aged Ivan Velez, whose body was found soon just before 1:30 a.m. final Tuesday.

Two women of all ages walking in the 1400 block of Broadway in Chula Vista uncovered the body on the roadside, according to police.

Terell was arrested Thursday, according to Capt. Phil Collum, who did not disclose a suspected motive, but did say the two gentlemen seemingly had been acquaintances.

Law enforcement experienced said only that Velez experienced “suspicious traumatic accidents.” But Monday afternoon, prosecutors filed a demand of murder against the suspect, as nicely as allegations of working with a knife and acquiring prior critical or violent felony strike convictions.

Terrell, who pleaded not responsible, faces 36 many years to everyday living in prison if convicted as charged.

He’s getting held in lieu of $3 million bail pending a July 24 readiness conference.
