NEW YORK (AP) — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says he’s finding reviews that a nationwide crackdown on immigrants facing deportation is previously underway in his town.
The sweeps had been envisioned to commence Sunday, but de Blasio tweeted on Saturday that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency had now taken action in New York.
The mayor suggests ICE brokers did not realize success in rounding up any residents of Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood and Harlem.
Immigrants who’ve been given orders to go away the country are govt targets in at least 10 cities.
Advocates are coaching them on their rights, which include guidance not to answer if brokers knock on the doorway unless of course demonstrated a warrant signed by a decide.
The Democratic mayor has said his city would not cooperate with ICE.
